Commonly Used 3DSMax Modelling Procedures

Posted by Mr Brady on May 11, 2008

3DSMax LogoThought it would be a good idea to have a thread where we can post some quick ” How To…’s “ for some of the commonly used modelling procedures using in 3DSMax.   If you come across a quick easy way of doing something, and it’s something others might find handy, note it down step by step and post it here.

Here is the skeleton correctly scaled for use in UT2004. Unit 5 skeleton Remember to scale your mesh to your skeleton, not the other way around

Modelling a Face and Head in 3DSMax

Posted by Mr Brady on March 29, 2008

In Unit 5, when you get to the point of modelling the characters face and head, there are a number of different options. Partial Face

I have uploaded several examples using different techniques.  One is from the Joan of Arc Tutorial. The example is incomplete, but you can use it as an example to see what to do.  Female Face   It has been created using the technique of extruding edges, rather than deforming a mesh, an outdated option but still one to have a knowledge of.

Head by deforming a mesh The other is based on the technique of deforming a mesh (starting with a box), as per the method that Sebastian from the AIE demonstrates.

This head is also incomplete, but again you can use it as a starting point.

Introductions

Posted by Mr Brady on March 5, 2008

G’day everyone,

As we are obviously getting visitors to our Blog from people both enrolled in the Cert IV course and outside, it would be terrific if people would like to post a brief self introduction here.  For those of you who visit that are not enrolled in our course,  please be assured that any/all contributions to the Blog would be most welcome.

In fact we would love to hear from others out there working and studying in the Games Development sector.

Yours in Gaming.

Mr Brady
